About the
Independence Zone
Helping you take the next step up.
The Independence Zone is a free community service dedicated to helping people in Independence, Missouri, and the surrounding area "take the next step up" in their lives.
This website exists to provide guidance, resources, and encouragement — pointing you to what you need next. For some, this might mean finding employment, improving skills, or furthering education. For others, it might mean securing basic necessities, housing, or support services. And for many, it might mean discovering greater personal satisfaction, understanding, or spiritual growth.
This site is designed to be like signs along the roadside, pointing toward useful destinations. The true path, however, is the narrow one — the road metaphorically called “Virtue.” While following this path does not guarantee worldly success, it aligns you with God’s will and leads to true life. The broad road leads to destruction, but the narrow road leads to life (Matthew 7:13–14).
About Me
Hi, I’m Shawn Driscoll. My journey has been shaped by a desire to help others take the next step in their lives. Faith and service are at the heart of everything I do.
Through this website, I aim to provide resources, encouragement, and guidance to those seeking a better path — whether practically, personally, or spiritually. I hope to be a companion along your journey, offering tools and insight to help you grow, serve, and move forward.
My goal is simple: to help you take the next step up, one small action at a time.
Personal Note: I once asked my children, “How do you jump over a mountain?” The answer was simple: “One jump at a time.” Another version is, “How do you move a mountain?” Answer: “One shovelful at a time.” It may take a while, but you get the idea. Progress is made one step at a time.

Since 2014
Originally, this website was created as a general public service to provide hard-to-find links to immediate and local information that many people need. It still exists for this reason, though resources are easier to find today. Even so, many thousands visit each month for a reason.
In the meantime, many other ministry websites have been created to help meet spiritual needs. Much can be said about “religion,” but to me, religion is manmade and only meaningful if it aligns with God’s standards (James 1:27).
The same can be said about the word “spiritual.” Often, people use it to mean something good, but not everything described as spiritual is truly so. True spirituality, in my view, comes from knowing and loving God.
I sincerely believe it is a good thing for all of us to know and love God. We may not need labels like “religion” or “spiritual,” but every one of us needs the life, love, truth, joy, honor, justice, and mercy that God provides.
I encourage you to read the Gospel of Christ and the Holy Bible, presented here in its entirety on this website. Feel free to explore the ministry websites as well. Why not take the next step up—practically and spiritually—and see for yourself what God has to offer.
Following the Call
All believers are called to be disciples of Christ, sent forth to teach, guide, and serve others. As Scripture says, we are “ambassadors for Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:20), sharing His message of hope, love, and reconciliation.
The Great Commission reminds us: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19-20). Each of us has a part to play, using the gifts God has given us to help others grow spiritually, personally, and practically.
Through obedience, faithfulness, and service, God equips His servants to bear fruit for His kingdom. My personal journey has been shaped by this calling — to provide guidance, encouragement, and resources that help people take the next step up in their lives. This is not done for recognition, but in obedience to Christ and the mission He entrusted to all His followers.
Thank you for visiting. May this site guide and encourage you as you take the next step up in your journey.
